Renault gives the Alaskan Concept pick-up study at the IAA International Motor Show (September 17-27) a first look at the future production model. The one-ton commercial vehicle should be available in Germany in mid-2017.
At first glance, the family belonging to the Alaskan Concept is recognizable by the typical Renault face, and the logo is also emblazoned clearly on the radiator grille. The large wheel arches and the 21-inch wheels are striking. Brake calipers, wheel hubs and exterior mirror housings are blue, and there is a golden-yellow tow hook at the rear. Full LED technology is used on the headlights and the rear lights.
The workhorse should also be practical, among other things, thanks to closed storage compartments on the right and left of the loading area, in which equipment and tools can be stored. The platform is equipped with three rails for fastening goods to be transported. Cladding and covers for the loading area are also available. The double cabin can accommodate up to five people.
The study is powered by a 2,3-liter diesel engine with twin-turbo technology. According to the manufacturer, the dimensions of the Alaskan Concept should be identical to the later series model. The vehicle will then be offered in various body designs and engines. The study has cameras in the exterior mirror flaps - but this extra does not make it into the production version.
