News: Saab 9-3 - different name, different logo

"Saab" should be seen in the future only on airplanes. The eponymous Swedish aircraft and armaments company is the brand name now finally not for use by the automakers National Electric Vehicles Sweden (NEVS), as the magazine Automotive News has learned. Although NEVS owns the rights to the middle-class model Saab 9-3, it will no longer be able to offer it with the usual logo and the established name. According to the report, the Chinese-led company has already announced plans to seek a new name. The logo already had to be changed to 2013; At that time, the truck manufacturer Scania, which owns the rights to the griffin crest, did not release the trademark.

With the decision Saabs the car brand of the same name is probably final history. After the bankruptcy under General Motors leadership and the subsequent interlude under the aegis of the Dutch small series manufacturer Spyker, the traditional Swedish car manufacturer 2012 was taken over by the newly founded company NEVS. At the end of 2013 the rebuilding of the 9-3 in Trollhättan, Sweden started. Already 2014, however, was due to liquidity problems to a continuing production stop today. Now, two large orders from China should provide better prospects - the delivery of the then electrically powered vehicles is planned for 2020.
