Smart already wraps his two-seater in the summer outfit and has again with the Fortwo convertible an open version of the micro-car on offer. The new holds fast to the hood principle of its predecessor. That means: at the touch of a button, the roof can be driven back in a few seconds - and this while driving and even up to the maximum speed. Anyone who wants to move the top from the street café to air it can do so by remote control via the key. However, in order to open the city flea one step further, the ignition must be switched on and a toggle switch on the center console must be actuated. The folded top lies down including the glass rear window to the rear. Stage three of the striptease continues to occupy the side roof pillars. They can be unhooked with a double-click and stowed away like a knife and fork in a cutlery box in a special compartment in the tailgate.
A little manual work, then, before it starts with the fresh air pleasure. The fun is reinforced by the small turbo engine in the rear. From only 900 cubic centimeters cubic capacity, he brings hefty 90 PS. The rich thickness for spontaneous sprints and lane changes in the city. On the highway, the Fortwo convertible creates 155 km / h top.
The top version offers Smart for 16.550 Euro. 895 Euro cheaper is the fun slightly weaker base model (1,0 liter displacement, naturally aspirated, 71 PS). Both will initially only be equipped with the twin-clutch transmission "twinamic", which can be switched quickly and smoothly. The one-time pitching after the gear changes are history. If you want it more comfortable, go to automatic mode. If you want to switch to the old custom, you have to be patient. In summer, Smart plans to supply the manual six-speed gearbox. The convertible will cost less in this variant analogous to the coupe 1.000 Euro.
But because nobody buys this little speedster off the shelf and instead extensively individualizes it, you should be friends with sums of around 20.000 euros. In addition to the main equipment lines “passion”, “prime” and “proxy” there are various packages. We recommend the “Cool & Media Package”. It includes automatic climate control and a 7-inch touchscreen, navigation and real-time traffic reports.
