News: Ssangyong Tivoli - And another mini SUV

The Korean automaker Ssangyong adds a small SUV to its product range. The Tivoli is available at the end of June and costs at least 15.490 Euro in the entry-level version "Crystal".

The basic version is powered by an 1,6 liter petrol engine with 94 kW / 128 PS and a maximum torque of 160 Newton meters. In autumn, a diesel engine with an 1,6 liter displacement and 85 kW / 115 PS as well as 300 Newton meters will also be submitted for the newcomer. Ssangyong does not yet give prices for the diesel.

The power is transmitted via a manual six-speed transmission or optionally via a six-speed automatic transmission. As usual in this class, all-wheel drive is only available at an additional cost. The standard equipment includes power steering with three driving modes, manual air conditioning and an audio system with six speakers and USB / AUX connections for MP3 players.

With its base price, the 4,20 meter long mini SUV Tivoli is more in the lower part of the segment, at the level of Nissan Juke (15.450 Euro) and Ford Ecosport (14.740 Euro). Other competitors such as Suzuki Vitara, Mazda CX-3 (both just under 18.000 euros) or Opel Mokka (just under 19.000 euros) are more expensive. In addition, like Hyundai and Kia, Ssangyong wants to score with a comprehensive guarantee package and gives its models a five-year guarantee up to 100.000 kilometers.

The Korean car brand was previously known for its design sins like the Rodius (from 2004), which regularly made it into the top ten of the ugliest cars. With the mini SUV, Ssangyong now wants to conquer the lifestyle segment. The Korando compact SUV was previously the smallest model of the brand.
