The days when a Volvo was just one thing - practical - are over. Of course you can still load enough into the station wagons, but the nasty loading masters, who are made of heavy “Swedish steel” and have only security to offer, are outdated. The black line, which means "Line Svart", is supposed to add a touch to the two models, as the "little black" emphasizes the curves of a beautiful woman. The black can be seen on many elements, such as in the fins of the radiator grille, on the exterior mirrors, the air intakes or the window frames. Even the trapezoidal exhaust trims adorn the dark design. You can also choose between three different alloy wheels, which are also emphasized by black highlights. Inside, leather seats await the passengers, who are assumed to be black. Wrong thought: The Swedes offer either an anthracite or a cream tone. The dark color can also be found on the steering wheel or gear knob, but here with beige contrast stitching. Volvo uses aluminum inserts in the center console to emphasize the cool, technical character of the middle class.
Of course, the equipment of the "black line" is not too scarce and is based on the "Business" equipment line: This includes the CleanZone air quality system, a rain sensor, a rear parking aid or, for example, a heated windscreen. You can also rely on the "Sensus" navigation system, which offers voice control and comes up with a search for the surroundings. With the send-to-car function, routes can be sent to the vehicle from a smartphone, for example.
Six known units are used as drives: two petrol engines, three diesel engines. With the petrol engines you have the choice between the T4 with 190 HP and the T5 with 245 horses under the hood. The former leaves the choice between manual transmission and automatic transmission and should burn about 5,6 to 5,8 liters on average. The T5 is only available with a vending machine and flushes 6,2 liters in a third mix through the four combustion chambers.
With the diesels you can choose the D3 with 150 HP and optionally with automatic, the D4 with 190 HP and also with optional automatic or the with 225 HP and standard automatic. Depending on whether you opt for an "Eco" model - as a D3 or D4 - the diesel engines consume between 3,9 or 4,8 liters in a third mix. Pricing starts at around 35.000 euros for the S60, while the station wagon, the V60, costs 1.000 euros more.
