Hyundai Kona: After the lift with a smooth face

The Hyundai Kona offers a lot of range for the money. That doesn't change after the lift either. Something else.

Hyundai is lifting the electric version of the Kona mini crossover. The most noticeable change is the new, now completely closed front section, which sets the Stromer apart more than before from the conventionally motorized versions. Inside there are now digital instruments and ambient lighting for the footwell. In addition, the app-based telematics service Bluelink has been expanded, which can now also be operated with voice commands.

Hyundai has expanded its range of assistance systems. There is now a cross traffic warning system with an emergency braking function, which is intended to make it easier to reverse out of a parking space. A new exit assistant is designed to prevent dooring accidents with cyclists, and an occupant alarm reminds you if there are still children in the vehicle when locking. In addition, the Kona gives a signal at the traffic lights if the driver does not react to the start of the vehicle in front.

Nothing changes in the drive technology of the Kona Elektro. Customers still have the choice between a strong variant (150 kW / 204 PS) with a large battery (64 kWh) and a weaker version (100 kW / 136 PS) with a small battery (39 kWh). The latter has a distance of 305 kilometers, the former only has to be plugged in again after 484 kilometers (WLTP). The standard single-phase charger has an output of 7,2 kW; a three-phase device with 11 kW is available on request, which powers the larger battery in around five and a half hours.

Hyundai has not yet announced prices for the lifted crossover. The current model was last available from around 35.000 euros. With the larger battery, around 42.000 euros were on the bill.
