In order to make buying e-cars more attractive to the public, the state is providing subsidies for private charging stations. A grant of 900 euros is possible if the wallbox meets all conditions. The only strange thing is that the stations of BMW, Mercedes and Tesla are missing from the list of eligible boxes.
Grant from the KfW Bank
Not everyone can warm up to buying an electric car. In order to change that, the state wants to sponsor the installation of private charging stations in the future. KfW-Bank gives a grant of 900 euros to anyone who has a charging station set up at home. Unfortunately, not all of these charging stations meet the conditions necessary for funding. Although the KfW Bank's list includes models from almost 100 manufacturers, the car manufacturers with the really big names are not included. Manufacturers such as Mercedes, BMW and Tesla have their own charging stations for private households on offer.
How expensive are the charging stations for home?
With VW, only one well-known German car manufacturer has made it onto the KfW list. On its website, Mercedes recommends two models from the manufacturer “Innogy” instead of its own charging station if customers want to apply for funding. The total cost of the wallbox must be over 900 euros, otherwise there will be no government funding. The pillars from Tesla are already available for 517 euros and are therefore too cheap for the grant.
More than 900 euros
In order to get a grant, not only the acquisition costs play a role, the installation of the column by an electrician is also subsidized. This of course makes the whole thing more expensive and the total price should then be over the required 900 euros. It is now known that the funding limit has led providers to adjust their prices accordingly. For example, the energy giant E.ON is selling its charging station for 901 euros, advertising that the charging station costs just one euro in this way.
