No, I did not know Gustav Büsing personally. I met him again and again at the Nürburgring. I saw him walking through the press center. I watched him make meticulous notes. Gustav Büsing was Press Secretary of Sauber in the Formula 1, was a motorsport journalist for the car newspaper, he was press officer of the F1 Europe Grand Prix. Gustav Büsing was a prolific book author and not only did he know my voice very well from the Eurosport broadcasts. The 24h of Le Mans were only complete when Gustav Büsing commented live from the cabin in LeMans.

The Nürburgring dedicates a honorary tree to the deceased motorsport expert. The tree is located on the Rolf-Stommelen-Straße in the access area of the paddock.
