Number of new car registrations in the EU

Corona also has an impact on new car registrations in the EU. But there is another reason for the decline in numbers.

In 2020, almost 9,95 million new cars were registered in the EU. Compared to 2019, this is a decrease of around 24 percent, as the data analyst Statista has calculated on the basis of figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA). The reasons for this lie in the corona crisis.
Most cars were registered across the EU in 2007 (around 15,57 million). The decline in new registrations between 2018 (15,14 million) and 2019 (around 13 million) is due to the UK leaving the EU. In 2019, a total of around 2,3 million cars were sold in Great Britain.
