Opel Insignia Country Tourer - off-road station wagon

Complemented with an off-road station wagon Opel in autumn the model range of the newly launched Insignia. The “Country Tourer” variant is particularly robust thanks to the higher, robust, planked body and all-wheel drive. The new top model can be ordered from June, and will be launched after the IAA in autumn.

The mid-range combination can be recognized by black plastic paneling around the body, silver-colored underride protection elements, roof rails and a two centimeter higher ground clearance. In parallel to the new variant, Opel is also introducing a new individualization model called “Exclusive”; Special rims and 15 different special paint finishes are available for an additional charge. The body color can also be mixed according to customer requirements.

There are underride protection elements at the rear

Opel has not yet given precise information on the drive portfolio of the Country Tourer. Presumably there will be the same engines as the other Insignia variants - with the exception of the base engines. The 1,5-liter engine with 165 hp and the 260-hp 2,0-liter engine would then be used as the gasoline engine, with the diesel, the 2,0-liter units with 125 kW / 170 hp and the new top diesel with more than 200 HP possible. The all-wheel drive with torque vectoring function for dynamic and safe cornering will at least be available as an option. The same should apply to the further developed adaptive chassis.

When it comes to equipment, the SUV station wagon has access to the full Insignia range. Among other things, there are matrix LED lights, an adaptive cruise control with emergency braking function and ergonomic seats. The online butler OnStar, which now also helps with hotel reservations and the search for a parking space, should be part of the standard scope.

Inside, emphasis was placed on high-quality equipment

Opel has not yet quoted prices. In the previous generation, the surcharge compared to the standard models was around 2.000 euros. As a petrol engine with 122 kW / 165 hp and front-wheel drive, the Country Tourer would therefore cost almost 33.000 euros. Its competitors include VW Passat Alltrack, Subaru Outback and Audi A4 Allroad.
