Optimism at Lexus for the next VLN race

The ADAC Reinoldus endurance race on October 3rd is the eighth round of the VLN Endurance Championship 2015. The two further developed Lexus RC F GT3s by Emil Frey Racing / Ring Racing and Farnbacher Racing are back at the start.

The 24,358 km long combination of the sprint track of the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit and the time-honored Nordschleife is considered the most demanding race track in the world. Not only is the route embedded in the landscape a challenge, but also the specific stresses on the car make the “Green Hell” special. Therefore, those responsible at Lexus Motorsport do not have the question of whether, but only how many races are held in the Eifel. The ten races of the VLN endurance championship, all of which take place on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, serve as the test laboratory for the development of the Lexus RC F GT3.

Lexus has been with the RC F GT3 racing car since the fourth round of the race and can already look back on successful races today. Both vehicles were able to finish at the debut, and Farnbacher Racing even secured the class victory. VLN5 went even better: second overall and thus the first podium of an Asian automobile manufacturer since the season finale in 1979. With the first pole position of a Japanese manufacturer in the VLN endurance championship, Lexus finally shone at the 6h ADAC Ruhr Cup race and convinced with speed and Reliability.

“The RC F GT3 made a very good impression at the VLN season highlight, the 6h race, thanks to the pole position. Setbacks, such as the early failure of the Farnbacher car in the last race, are part of it and do not throw us back. We are still in the test phase and on schedule, ”says Hannes Gautschi from Lexus Switzerland.

Dominik Farnbacher, pilot at Farnbacher Racing, adds: “During the break after the 6-hour race, we completely dismantled the vehicle and examined it for weak points. Our goal is to improve the car in terms of driveability and reliability. The following three VLN races in October will be exciting because they usually take place under difficult conditions. ”Farnbacher is alluding to the notorious Eifel weather, which has already decided one or the other race due to unpredictable rain showers. A wrong decision regarding the choice of tires quickly leads to an additional pit stop and a backlog that cannot be made up even after a four-hour race.

Dominik Farnbacher (Lichtenau) shares the cockpit with the Japanese Hiroki Yoshimoto as in the 6-hour race. Emil Frey Racing / Ring Racing starts again with Lorenz Frey (Switzerland), Markus Oestreich (Petersberg) and Jordan Tresson (France) and would like to build on the success of the last race, second place in the SPX class and 13th overall.

The ADAC Reinoldus long-distance race over a distance of four hours takes place on October 3 and starts at 12:00 p.m. Before that, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the starting order will be decided during qualifying.
