Peugeot Landtrek - The Lion Truck from China

In some African countries, pick-ups with a lion emblem dominate the streets. There Peugeot wants to further strengthen its tradition as a pick-up brand in the future.

Pick-ups have a long tradition at Peugeot - primarily in the countries of Africa and South America. This tradition is now being continued with the Landtrek. By the end of 2020, the commercial vehicle, which is up to 5,39 meters long, will be available in various variants and drive options in some overseas markets.

The front design gives the Landtrek a current Peugeot identity, which at the same time conveys robustness. In addition, there is up to 23,5 centimeters of ground clearance and muscular-looking wheel arch. As usual with pick-ups, there is a 5,39 meter long version with a single and a six centimeter shorter body variant with a double cabin and space for up to 6 passengers. While three Euro pallets fit on the large loading area, the shorter version of the double cab version is sufficient for two Euro pallets. The luggage can weigh up to 1,2 tons, the trailer load is 3,5 tons. As special features, the loading area offers LED lighting and a 12-volt socket.

The Landtrek's workplace can be furnished in a classy and modern manner on request

Although a workhorse, the Landtrek offers a similar interior in many respects to Peugeot's car models. There is a 10-inch touchscreen above the center console for the infotainment system, which thanks to connectivity technology also allows the integration of smartphone apps. A two-zone automatic climate control is also part of the equipment program. As a special feature, the version with double cab at the front and rear can be equipped with benches with three seats each. The safety arsenal includes six airbags, lane keeping assist, hill descent help and ASR.

The Landtrek will be available in stripped-down versions and with a single cabin

Various diesel and petrol engines are available for the Landtrek. The latter can also be combined with a six-speed automatic. The pick-up is also available with either rear or all-wheel drive. In the 4 × 4 system, the two driving modes offer 4H for normal asphalt operation and 4L with gear reduction for more demanding terrain. The differential is also equipped with E-Locker, which provides additional traction in the event that a wheel should spin.

And no, even if the Landtrek might be reminiscent of a Nissan Navara, it has nothing in common with the Japanese. The Peugeot Landtrak is based on the Changan Kaizen F70 and is a cooperation product from the cooperation between PSA and the Chinese manufacturer Changan.
