PHEV long-term test continues with the 2017 model!

It's time. We picked up the 2017 model of our endurance test. With the vintage 2017, the Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrid Outlander has not changed optically. But there are a few technical changes that we need to address!

2017 Outlander PHEV / TOP with driver assistance package!

Before you can deduct 6.000 € from the price tag, stand for the new Outlander in its highest trim level, including the driver assistance package, 52,390 € on the price tag.

What has changed?

"Pure EV“: There would be – probably the most important thing to mention – the “EV priority function”, with which the vehicle can now be moved. An additional button whose task is to prioritize electric travel. As long as possible, the PHEV will run purely electrically. It's a change from the previous strategy that makes the Outlander PHEV stand out. The mix of drive strategies, as required, can now be changed manually to a pure EV strategy. As soon as we have initial experience, we will report on it.

New driver assistance systems!

The mechanical handbrake has given way to an electric version. And now there is an auto-hold function on board that prevents it from rolling away unintentionally. Often also referred to as “hill start assistant”. There is now also a “BLIND SPOT ASSIST”, which serves as an additional safety device when changing lanes and monitors the area of the vehicle that is not in the driver’s direct field of vision. Also new is the high beam assistant, which now takes control of the high beam at night and automatically dims as soon as oncoming traffic appears.

Also new is the Auspark Assistant, which uses the parking sensors at the rear to warn against traffic jams. So you always have extra protection when rear maneuvering.

230-Volt socket

Now that the issue of “bi-directional” connection has been settled for now, due to the lack of a partner company to produce the necessary charging boxes, the new generation now has at least two 230-volt sockets.

Everyday life in the Mitsubishi Plug-in Hybrid Outlander 2017

Will everyday life change a lot in the new year? Probably not. More on whether the “Pure-EV” mode can prove itself and how the new assistance systems help in everyday life will come soon!
