Piaggio Porter NP6

For almost three decades, the Piaggio Porter mini-truck was based on an old Daihatsu platform. It has now finally had its day.

In addition to two- and three-wheelers, the Italian scooter giant Piaggio has been offering the Porter, a four-wheeled mini truck for a wide range of body variants, since the early 90s. So far it has been the licensed production of the Daihatsu Hijet S1986 introduced in 80. Now the Italians have presented the successor with the NP6 version, which, like its predecessor, should prove itself as a small city truck in narrow cities.

The new edition, which has grown to at least 4,22 meters in length and 1,64 meters in width, will in future be offered in three basic models either with a fixed or tilting loading area or as a chassis for a large number of body variants. Compared to the predecessor, the combination options should be significantly more diverse. In addition, the porter's payload has increased. While the load capacity is 1.275 kilograms with single tires on the rear axle, it increases to 1,6 tons with double tires.

Meets 6d emissions standard

The only available drive unit is a 1,5-liter gasoline engine which, in addition to petrol, can also use natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas as fuel. Depending on the fuel, the power spectrum of the four-cylinder, which is only available in combination with a five-speed manual transmission, varies between 68 kW / 92 PS and 78 kW / 106 PS. Thanks to the combi-fuel technology, the new Porter meets the Euro 6d emissions standard.

The standard equipment includes anti-skid ESC, an eCall system, driver airbag, USB charging socket and light and rain sensor. Passenger airbag, DAB + radio and air conditioning can be ordered as options. Prices start at around 15.000 euros (net).
