Passenger car market - demand from private customers constant in April

The German car market shrank in April. But hardly with private customers.

Private customer demand for new cars is stagnating. In April around 120.000 new passenger cars were registered in Germany. Compared to the same month last year, this corresponds to a slight minus of 0,6 percent, as reported by the motor vehicle importer association VDIK. Its members increased their share of the private customer market compared to April 2018 from 44,8 to 46 percent. A total of 310.715 new cars were registered in April, 1,1 percent less than a year earlier.
