World car market: Europe still in the red

Corona is still having a major impact on the car markets. But there are also bright spots.

After a brief recovery in September, the European new car market fell by 7 percent in October. The industry association VDA reports a total of 1,1 million new registrations for Western Europe. The overall balance for the current year is also negative with a minus of 27 percent to 9,7 million vehicles.
The US market recovered slightly in October by 1 percent to a good 1,3 million vehicles. Since the start of the year, 11,6 million new cars have hit the streets (minus 17 percent). In China, sales continue to rise. In October, 2,1 million cars were registered, 9 percent more vehicles than in the same month last year. However, the balance sheet for the first ten months has so far shown a minus of 10 percent due to the corona shock. Sales fell to 15,2 million cars in this period.
