Porsche 968 L'Art - a classic becomes art

With the 968 this was once possible Porsche-Designer Harm Lagaayto sustainably refresh the aged design DNA of the 924 and 944. Now the timeless shapes have been spiced up again.

Porsche 968 L'Art
One of the special features of the renovation is a paint job in an unusual shade of green

The career of the Porsche 968 series, which began in 1975, was finally extended almost exactly 924 years ago with the 30. The series, which was discontinued in 1995, still looks modern today. Even a little futuristic, it now comes in a version converted into a Speedster by the Parisian fashion label L'Art de L'Automobile, which once again recalls the short career of the sports car.

No more pop-up headlights

The French have significantly alienated the sheet metal cladding of the Porsche 968 in the conversion project, which lasted around 18 months. The side of the car looks more high-walled, while the passenger cell with its low windshield and Speedster hump behind the headrests rises only slightly above it. The former pop-up headlights are only hinted at in the fenders. New light sources are narrow light strips in the front apron, underneath which a Porsche logo spreads. Other eye-catching details are the minimalist exterior mirrors or the continuous tail light strip with the “KAR” lettering, which refers to the “L'Art” founder Arthur Kar.

Leather sports seats for the Porsche 968

The interior, which is open upwards and to the sides, has been furnished in a spartan manner. In the center of the dashboard, the Tag Heuer stopwatch catches the eye. The Recaro sports seats are covered with a special leather. Audio specialist Bose contributed a sound system.

Porsche does not provide any technical data for the idiosyncratic conversion. Presumably, however, as with the original, there will be a three-liter four-cylinder under the outer skin painted in green, which in its highest output level could provide 257 kW / 350 PS and make the 968 up to 290 km / h.
