An innovative design with a revolutionary drive system - these are the attributes that apply to the BMW i8. No other vehicle has lifted the sports car world so much from their deadlocked tracks as the flat Munich. The traditional tuner AC Schnitzer does not want to change that, but wants to improve the i8 a bit. In addition, the people of Aachen take the design and refine it with their typical style elements. Thanks to AC Schnitzer, the sportiness of the BMW i8 has now been increased. But the Aachen-based company left the drive completely as standard and optimized the body and, above all, the gear train. Nevertheless, the environmentally conscious character of the design is completely retained. It starts with a lowering of 25 mm on the front axle and 20 mm on the hindquarters. In this way, the flat flounder is not only given a slight wedge shape, but also gains driving dynamics. After all, Manfred Wollgarten - the chassis developer at AC Schnitzer - is considered a master of his trade. And a lower center of gravity has never harmed the driving dynamics.
The refiner relies on a lot of carbon for the add-on parts, so that the front spoiler is adorned with elegant lightweight construction elements. The side skirts and the rear wing are even made entirely of the lightweight material. So the joy of driving can develop to the full. Should you not immediately identify the design of the add-on parts as AC Schnitzer accessories, subtle lettering on the sides of the vehicle will indicate this.
The built-in wheelset in particular helps the Bavarian athlete achieve increased driving dynamics. The lightweight forged wheels of the type AC1 want to combine the hybrid look with a sporty design. They have been optimally matched to the BMW i8 and the hybrid concept thanks to the matching bi-color look and the corresponding tires. Any desired color is optionally available, so that you can upgrade your series i8 with its blue parts with the wheels. It is exciting that the new complete wheel set weighs exactly the same as the standard "Turbinenstyling 625" wheels, although the light alloy wheels have grown by one inch to a total of 21 inches and also accommodate much wider tires.
Of course, AC Schnitzer did not leave the interior intact. This is how classic and sporty elements come into play, highlighting the dynamic character once again. In addition to noble floor mats, the aluminum pedals in particular create a sporty look, which is taken up again by the footrest of the same material. So if you say A, that should also say AC, after all, the Aachen understand their craft and optimize the hybrid athlete where he has earned it.
