Renault Kadjar: Qashqai in French

From the middle of the year wants Renault compete with the new compact SUV Kadjar VW Tiguan and Co. The model is positioned between the Mini Crossover Captur and the approximately 4,50 meter long SUV Koleos.

The technology and drive of the Kadjar come from the bestseller Qashqai by the sister company Nissan, and there is also an independent body in the more dynamic style of the French brand. The name of the new entry is inspired by the small four-wheel drive vehicles called "Quad" in the front part, the ending is intended to recall the French words "agile" and "jailir" ("manoeuvrable").

Details and photos will not be released by the manufacturer until the end of January. However, the dimensions of the Kadjar should closely follow the 4,37 meter long Qashqai and also use the same motors. Accordingly, the offer starts with a 85 kW / 115 PS petrol engine, above which two diesel with 81 kW / 110 PS and 96 kW / 1130 PS will rank. The top engine could be an 120 kW / 163 PS petrol engine. Four-wheel drive is expected to have optional for the stronger diesel. Prices are not yet known, but even there should serve from 20.000 Euro expensive Nissan as a model.

So far, Renault is only represented in the compact SUV class with the Koleos built by Samsung in Korea. The model could never really gain a foothold in this country, 2014 only found 964 buyers.
