The new edition of the Renault Koleos celebrates its premiere at Auto China in Beijing (April 25 to May 4). The mid-range SUV is the French version of the Nissan X-Trail, but like its little brother Kadjar, which is based on the Nissan Qashqai, wears an independent tin dress. The model is expected to come to Europe in early 2017.
Renault has so far been reluctant to provide technical details. The approximately 4,65 meter long Koleos should be offered in analogy to the X-Trail in Europe with 1,6 liter engines and all-wheel drive. It is unlikely that there will be a third row of seats like the Nissan model, instead the Renault with a capacity of almost two cubic meters should position itself as the loading master.
The new edition doesn't have much in common with the first generation of the Koleos. The predecessor, which was not very successful in this country, came from the Korean Renault subsidiary Samsung and always acted as a quick shot in Europe to participate in the SUV boom. Recently, the five-seater was only available in quasi full equipment and with a limited range of engines.
