Review: The road trip to the Mazda Film Festival

"Great, great, great, kids!", Or: "Cut !, Cuuuuut! Once again!". It must have been something like that when Bjoern and three colleagues set off for the Mazda RoadTrip to Rome. Bjoern, operator of Mein-Auto-Blog.de and walking lexicon when it comes to cars, had the idea for this road trip. And the result is something to be proud of, but what also lies with the protagonists: not only the Mazda MX-5 played the main role, but also Jan Gleitsmann of ausfahrt.tv and Jens Stratmann of rad-ab.com, We look back on this unique event.

The path as a not easy goal

Fat things were mandatory north of the Alps

Well, admittedly: I can not imagine bjoerning clichéd directing directives. But this time Jens and Jan were in the Mazda MX-5 Center, while Bjoern acted in the background. The start was in Bielefeld, the home port of the two protagonists. From Bilster Berg we first went to a private Mazda museum in Augsburg. After examining the numerous exhibits, they finally set off towards Austria, where the first day ended after well over 1.000 kilometers. An airy pleasure, after all, the two Bielefeld drivers always drove with the top down. The companions in the Mazda CX-5 were far more comfortable. In it, by the way, sat none other than Dean Malay, who might be well known to one or the other as Auto-Bild editor and presenter.

Open to Italy: in wind and weather

It's never too dark to be cool - or something

Day two started in the middle of the Austrian Alps. Snow, cold and ice on the windows and on the fabric roof could not stop Jens and Jan from driving open - after all, a mission had to be fulfilled: open to the finish. But since it was not really warm in Germany or in the mountains, several sweaters, thick jackets, thick knitted hats and gloves were compulsory.

You can see in the video whether the two really managed to achieve their ambitious goal of covering the entire route with the roof open. Here are all stops, including a Mazda collector in Italy and also in the Augsburg Mazda Museum, held exactly as the arrival in Rome. Hollywood greats such as Tom Hanks or Oliver Stone gave it a go - all accompanied by Mazda, who has sponsored the film festival in the Italian capital for the fourth time in a row. So it happened that the Japanese had a lot of exciting things to offer, such as one MX-5 Drive-in theater. But now Habbi would surely call "shut up and action". So have fun watching the video.
