Russian group presents electric car

In Russia, too, there is concern about the future of the electric car, as demonstrated by the Kalashnikov study CV-1. Now truck manufacturer Kamaz has also presented an electric car.

The Russian industrial group Kamaz, known among other things for its trucks, has presented a battery-powered small car. The Stromer, developed jointly with the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, should already be fully developed. However, Kamaz has not revealed whether and when it will be mass-produced.

At 3,40 meters, the stocky looking Kama-1 is very compact. Nevertheless, the three-door should offer four seats. An 80 kW / 109 PS electric motor is responsible for propulsion, which allows acceleration from standstill to 100 km / h in 6,7 seconds and a maximum of 150 km / h. If the 33 kWh lithium-ion battery is fully charged, it should have a range of around 250 kilometers. In standard mode it takes 6 hours to charge the battery, while the process can be shortened to 20 minutes with the fast charger.

The display and operating world of the Kama-1 is quite unusual, as it is concentrated on a 9-inch touchscreen in the steering wheel. However, the display does not turn with steering movements. Information relevant to driving is projected into the windshield via a head-up display. In addition, the small Stromer is equipped with modern Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which should allow automated driving skills at autonomy level 3. With an update, level 4 would also be possible, says Kamaz.
