Shell Concept Car - The enemy of all gas stations

Light, streamlined and, thanks to special lubricants, particularly low-friction: Shell, the mineral oil company, has developed a three-seater economy vehicle for city traffic together with Formula 1 designer Gordon Murray. The concept car will now be presented at the Auto China in Beijing (25 April to 4 May).

The basis of the study is the light vehicle T.25, which Murray 2010 had presented. After extensive fine-tuning, the around 2,50 meter long mini-car is said to have become even more economical. Concrete figures on the consumption of the 660 ccm large three-cylinder petrol remains the oil companies owe, but promises to 34 percent better energy balance compared to a typical small car - was considered the cost of production and operation.

Shell's contribution to the project mainly concerns the lubricants. Special low-viscosity oils are said to have cut consumption by five percent compared to conventional products. The findings from the project should help Shell not least in the future in the development of new oils. A series production of the vehicle is not announced.
