Skoda Vision E - into the electric age on a grand scale

Skoda starts into the electric age with an SUV. The Czechs plan to present a study of the coupé-like crossover at the auto show in Shanghai in April. The concept vehicle called Vision E is already close to series production. By 2025, Skoda plans to have five pure electric models in various sizes and a plug-in version of the flagship Superb in two years.

When it comes to propulsion, the 4,65 meter long and still 1,92 meter wide study is a hitherto unknown statement from Skoda: two electric motors with a total of 225 kW / 306 hp are good for 180 km / h, supply both axles and do the Vision E to a four-wheel drive. According to the standard, the battery should last for around 500 kilometers, in practice there should be around 400 kilometers.

Technically, the Skoda is also based on the new platform, which is called MEB (Modular Electrification Kit) in the VW Group. With the smaller sedan ID and the ID Buzz, a reinterpretation of the famous Bulli, the VW brand has now also presented two modular studies. (Peter Maahn / SP-X)
