Survey: Secondary Employment While Driving

Drivers in Germany like to scold behind the wheel - that's the common cliché. However, it is mainly women who often complain loudly, as a survey now shows.

Germans spend a lot of time in their cars, although they don't just concentrate on driving themselves. In many cases, secondary jobs are also pursued. According to a study commissioned by the online car exchange Mobile.de, there are interesting differences between men and women.

By far the most popular sideline activity is listening to the radio, music or podcasts. 80,1 percent of drivers said they do this frequently. Eating and drinking at the wheel is the second most frequent secondary activity, with only 20,9 percent. This is followed by swearing (18,9 percent), making calls (15 percent), puffing or booing (14,9 percent) and talking to yourself (13,6 percent).

While only 11,9 percent of women admitted to farting more often when driving, the proportion of men was 17,9 percent. On the other hand, women show less restraint when it comes to rabble-rousing, which makes 21,3 percent of women more likely, while only 16,4 percent of men admit that they raise their voices against other road users more often.
