The automotive industry in the time of Corona

An industry like that of cars is experiencing a lot of financial losses at the present time. With the regulation, which was decided at the beginning of March, not only shopping centers and furniture stores had to close, but also car dealerships. So from now on there were no more sales. The productions also had to stop their projects, sometimes on a voluntary basis. If there is no sale, no production will be necessary.
But how does the entire industry deal with it? What does the future look like for car makers and potential buyers?

What the dealership shutdown meant

For almost five weeks Car dealerships already closed and some of the productions are still paused. This results in enormous financial losses. Small car dealerships in particular, which no longer receive any funds from the closure, have to part ways with employees. A mountain of debt is accumulating, which is also caused by pre-orders, among other things. Car dealerships should still be on display - many have interesting light effects, which generate attention. However, this type of marketing has its price.

Empty highways and what that means

At the present time driving about half as many cars a day than it was before the Corona period. This means that there are also far fewer accidents statistically. That is very good on the side of human life and health. On the other hand, the automotive industry lives from buying new cars. Accordingly, a vicious circle for car manufacturers and car sellers is emerging, which is difficult to break in the current situation.
Apart from the automotive industry, the lower traffic volume can be seen positively in various ways. On the one hand, the roads are less polluted, so that damage remains low. It also emits considerably less CO2, so that the environment is protected.

What is the forecast for the future?

For the time being, major events have been canceled until the end of August 2020. This means that trade fairs such as the “Essen Motorshow” cannot take place. This means that face-to-face advertising is not possible on a large scale. However, motorsport fans and passionate car enthusiasts can still offer their support. If you are interested in cars and have your own blog or website, you can advertise individual manufacturers, brands or models. On the one hand, you can shoot an article or even a promotional video and publish it on your website. The effort will be worth it, especially if you get a lot of attention. This is usually low at the beginning, especially for beginner bloggers. This is because your blog is not search engine oriented. This means that it will not appear high up when searching on a search engine, which means fewer people will be aware of it. However, you can counteract this fact by: involve the agency in love of performance. With the help of professionals, it will be possible to find your blog more easily. Campaigns can be created with Google, which means that you will appear first in the search. In addition to these services, there are other marketing opportunities that you can take advantage of.

A step into normality: the opening of production companies and car dealerships

Since April 20, 2020, producers have again been allowed to boost production in compliance with various rules. Some of the productions already started are: Ford, Mazda, Toyota and Volkswagen. Among other things, there will probably be a two-shift operation at Ford, so that as few people as possible work in the same place at the same time. However, production only makes sense if there are also buyers of the product. Therefore, the car dealerships were allowed to reopen from now on. These too must adhere to strict measures.
In Germany itself, a mask requirement also applies from the end of April, so you should also have this on in car dealerships.

What will the time “after Corona” look like?

Many private individuals and companies are confronted with this question in the current time. The enormous losses can only be caught up to a limited extent, so that especially small companies from different industries have to worry about the continuation of their business. Despite enormous financial damage in the automotive industry, there should be no collapse. Because the largest producers include car manufacturers, there are usually many reserves that can be used in the current time. However, it is undisputed that profits of several million euros have not been possible due to the current situation.

How should I behave in shops and car dealerships?

First of all, you should definitely get a protective mask, as this is now mandatory for entering shops. Disposable gloves are also useful when shopping so that lubricant transfer is avoided. Ultimately, conscious handling of the risk and maintaining a safe distance are also part of it, so that the situation can normalize in the long term.
