The French went for it: 5.000 euro premium for the Renault Zoe

Renault is using the purchase bonus decided by the federal government to further drive sales of the Renault Zoe. The French not only participate in this bonus, which was initially hotly debated, but go one step further. Anyone interested in the small electric vehicle will receive an additional 1.000 euros from Renault. The starting price for the Renault Zoe drops to 16.500 euros.

The topic was initially controversial: Initially, only Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and BMW took part in the federal government's new e-bonus. But it was clear that more and more manufacturers would join in and use the federal government grant to promote electromobility. So does Renault: If you buy a Zoe you get the state premium of 4.000 euros. It is split up and 50 percent from the federal government and 50 percent from Renault. In addition, the Créateur d´Automobile grant an extra bonus of 1.000 euros.

Anyone who does not want to afford the total sum of just 16.500 euros can lease the little Stromer. The small car comes to the customer with a percentage of 3,49 and is available for 99 euros a month. However, there are additional costs for renting the battery. Nevertheless, the Renault Zoe with 240 km range offers a lot for the narrow course.

It is no coincidence that the Renault Zoe is number one in Europe in terms of sales. The French were able to secure a market share of almost 26 percent in all electrical approvals in the first quarter. In the private customer area, the rate is as much as 50 percent, as far as Germany is concerned. Renault sold 18.500 units across Europe, generating a market share of 20 percent.

It's just a shame that Renault doesn't offer a plug-in hybrid. These will ultimately be subsidized with 3.000 euros - also borne equally by the federal government and the manufacturer. And a Renault Talisman PHEV would certainly fit well into the portfolio. After all, the middle class would still have to be below the 60.000 euro mark, which is the maximum for the e-bonus.
