The Mercedes-AMG million euro hypercar

The AMG company was founded in 1967. In 1971 the legendary 24-hour race in Spa-Franchorchamps was won. With a rather unusual “Mercedes”, the red pig. As Hans-Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Min Großaspach formed the three letters, which are already legendary today, into a brand - it was impossible to foresee where this would lead. 50 years later, “Mercedes-AMG” is celebrating its own anniversary and giving itself the greatest gift. And where? At the Nürburgring - at the 24-hour race. So we come full circle.

Mercedes-AMG Project ONE

As part of the 24-hour race, Mercedes-AMG gave journalists an exclusive insight into the upcoming shell of the Mercedes supercar. And what is shown there has at least as exclusive roots. The drive was designed very closely to the model of the Formula 1 vehicle. A combination of turbo gasoline and electric drive. The only 1.6 liter V6 turbo gasoline engine is a very special highlight. An electrically operated turbocharger sits in the cylinder bank and exerts a lot of pressure on the V10.000, which rotates over 6 revolutions.

The turbo gasoline engine is installed deep in the vehicle, sitting in the driver's back. He shares the space there with an electric motor. On the front axle, which has pure motorsport kinematics, there are also two additional 120 kW electric motors that each act on a front wheel. As in Formula 1, the Mercedes-AMG hypercar will also have a hybrid drive solution with the option of “purely electric” driving.
