The new Bentley Continental GT Convertible - Grand Touring luxury convertible

British luxury car brand Bentley Motors presents the all-new Bentley Continental GT Convertible. Today we want to introduce you to the most important highlights of the British convertible. Hand built in Crewe, the GT Convertible is the third generation model and embodies elegant understatement and British engineering. The design of the body harmonises very well with the interior fittings, which are also made by hand.

Very British, the new Bentley Continental GT Convertible

From a luxury coupé to a GT convertible at the push of a button

Floating openly through the area is one of the most important purchase criteria for the Bentley Continental GT Convertible. At the push of a button, up to a speed of 50 km/h, the top opens and closes in less than 20 seconds. A luxury coupé becomes a grand tourer convertible. There are seven colors to choose from for the hood. For the outer skin, future customers can choose from a range of 17, including Beluga, Onyx and Portofino.

If you want to cruise openly through the country even in colder temperatures, you can use the newly designed neck heating. This is seamlessly integrated into the heated comfort seats. Combined with the heated steering wheel, heated seats and new heated armrests, these well thought-out comfort features ensure a luxurious driving experience whatever the season.

The Continental GT Convertible rolls on 21-inch wheels with five triple spokes as standard or optionally with 10 spokes. 22-inch wheels with five spokes in an open-spoke design can also be ordered for a surcharge. The three wheel models can be designed with ten different polished and painted surfaces on request.

Increased driving comfort and safety with the new Continental

The air suspension of the new Continental GT Convertible uses three-chamber air springs. Compared to the previous model, these have 60 percent more air volume in the softest setting. This increases driving comfort and the dynamic character of the vehicle. The system offers a bandwidth with which, depending on the selected driving mode, completely different chassis characteristics can be set, from sporty, stiff suspension to the sophistication of a luxury sedan.

The body of the Continental GT Convertible is lighter and at the same time stiffer than that of its predecessor. The five percent optimization of the torsional strength and the reduction of the weight by 20 percent are possible through the use of aluminum and high-strength steel.

The new Electric Power Steering System (EPAS) improves the driver's feel for the road. However, it protects against unwanted impacts in the steering. The steering has a variable steering ratio, which enables faster steering movements with steeper angles for easy maneuvering while maintaining optimal stability at high speeds.

With the help of the damper control system (CDC), the damping force can be continuously adjusted for optimal driving comfort. The system continuously measures the speed and the distance between the wheels and the body and, if necessary, regulates the amount of air in the springs to ensure the optimal balance between comfort and handling.

The Bentley comes to a standstill with a braking system and a total of 28 pistons. It is the most powerful steel system ever fitted to a Bentley. The two-piece front brake disc with cast-iron friction ring and aluminum brake carrier has a diameter of 420 mm. The front brake calipers are equipped with ten pistons each. The rear brake calipers each have four pistons. These press against one-piece 380 mm brake discs and bring the GT to a standstill.

The engine of the Bentley Continental GT Convertible

It can be very fast, even extremely sporty, the Continental GT Convertible. Thanks to Bentley's powerful 6,0-litre W12 engine with 900 Nm of torque and 635 hp of power, the GT sprints to country road speed in 3,8 seconds. According to the manufacturer, its top speed is an impressive 333 km/h.

The 12-cylinder engine has an automatic start-stop system, which in Bentley's further developed version also enables coasting. Designed, developed and handcrafted in Crewe, the engine not only shuts off when the vehicle is stationary, but also at very low speeds.

Under certain conditions, Bentley's cylinder deactivation shuts off one half of the engine. In doing so, the intake and exhaust valves, fuel injection and ignition of specified cylinders are switched off, so that the engine runs as a six-cylinder to increase efficiency. The fuel consumption of the Bentley Continental GT Convertible is a modest 12,4 l/100 km (NEDC combined).

The eight-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth acceleration and fast gear changes at the same time.

Noble leather surfaces, veneer wood and a diamond-shaped ribbing of the seats

Refined interior with an orchestral sound experience

The occupants of the new Bentley Continental GT Convertible enjoy fine leather surfaces and wood veneers. When closed, you can see the headliner, which can be selected from eight different colors. New surfaces and structures ensure tactile and visible enjoyment. A diamond-shaped ribbing on the seat cushions with a detailed, three-dimensionally faceted surface adds an extra touch of luxury. The finishing touches are given by optional hand-sewn cross-stitch seams.

The Brit has three audio systems to choose from. The 650 watt standard system is equipped with 10 loudspeakers. A Bang & Olufsen system with 1.500 watts and 16 speakers with illuminated covers is also available. With the help of the BeoSonic system, the sound can be intuitively adjusted with just one touch.

If you are looking for the perfect sound experience, choose the Naim system with 2.200 watts for 18 speakers, bass shakers built into the front seats and eight different sound modes.

The driver looks at digital instruments

For the driver, the technological advances in the new Continental GT Convertible are abundantly clear. The driver-oriented instrument panel is fully digital and can be individualized by the driver. However, if the start button for the engine is pressed, the piece of veneer in the middle of the dashboard slides forwards in a rotating manner. The largest touchscreen from Bentley to date appears: a digital 12,3-inch MMI display in HD quality.

The customer can configure the three-part start screen as desired. Then the most popular features are displayed, such as navigation, media and phone. The interface design is based on modern smartphones and the menus are structured extremely intuitively.

On the third side of the Bentley Rotating Display sit three elegant analogue instruments: outdoor thermometer, compass and clock. This innovative use of classic elements underscores Bentley's unique commitment to the past and the future, giving customers the choice of digital or analog gauges or a clean, simple cockpit.

The occupants can connect to the outside world via Apple CarPlay via a USB port. A real-time traffic system informs the driver about the current traffic status. In an emergency situation, Private eCall offers instant access to emergency services, ensuring optimal security on the go.
