VW brings a new small car model. But that is already known.
VW is splitting its small car range further and introducing the Polo and the mini SUV T-Cross in late summer taigo to the side. The “T” in the name of the newcomer makes it clear: The new VW Tango is a small SUV, but with coupé-like trains. In Brazil and Argentina, the raised small car has been on the market as VW Nivus since autumn 2020.
Definitely affordable
The Taigo is based on the MQB A0 platform, which is used in the VW Group for small cars and their crossover offshoots. For the European market, the model rolls off the assembly line in Pamplona, Spain, alongside the Polo. The starting price will start at under 20.000 euros.
The Taigo stretches to a length of 4,27 meters, not only surpassing the T-Cross (4,11 meters), but also the compact T-Roc (4,24 meters). Thanks to its wheelbase of 2,57 meters and the somewhat higher seating position that is typical of its class, the Taigo wants to offer passengers easy entry and exit as well as good space. Its trunk volume is 438 liters. However, there is no sliding back seat like the T-Cross. The height of the new crossover is 1,49 meters; In combination with the slightly sloping roof line, this should ensure a sportier appearance than the rather angular T-Cross.

In addition to the sloping roof line, there are also large wheels (16 to 18 inches), black-clad wheel arches and a long rear overhang for a striking appearance. Optionally, the vehicle can be ordered with a black painted roof.
Equipment lean at no extra charge
The Taigo is offered in the four equipment lines Taigo "," Life "," Style "and" R-Line ". The standard equipment includes LED headlights, the digital cockpit and a multifunction steering wheel ex works. With Style and R-Line, there are also matrix headlights, seat heating and special design elements as well as special bumpers. A panoramic roof, design packages, navigation system or assistants for parking in and out of parking spaces or for semi-autonomous driving are available for a surcharge. A trailer coupling is also available.
VW offers the same engine program as the T-Cross for the Taigo. There is a choice of the one-liter three-cylinder TSI in the expansion stages with 70 kW / 95 PS and 81 kW / 110 PS and the 1,5-liter TSI with 110 kW / 150 PS. There will be no electrified variant for the Taigo, which is always delivered with front-wheel drive; even more powerful engines are currently not planned.
