The topic of "fuel" is a really exciting and hotly debated, after all, drives a lot of cars on our roads with gasoline and diesel. Often we do not care what we pump our car into the tank. This topic is really interesting and includes factors that are often not clear to you. Your ambiguities have taken Bjoern and Jens to Berlin and presented them to the experts of TOTAL.
Petrol is petrol - isn't it?
For example, there is the question of whether the fuel composition and its quality are always the same, after all, the base fuel - depending on the region - would come from different refineries.
Dr. knew that. Clearly Ralf Stöckl with a "no" answer. Here it depends on which oil the fuel produced and in which refinery would be produced. These factors would cause fluctuations, but they would be normal and natural. Ultimately, however, it is important that TOTAL adds an additive, so that you always get the same, high quality at all TOTAL gas stations.

Even fuel can freeze
Another question dealt with the sensitivity of the fuel to coldness. Here, the standard prescribes an insensitivity up to temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius - and that's what the TOTAL fuels do, of course. It goes even further: the standard fuels are resistant to -22 degrees Celsius, the TOTAL Excellium Diesel even to -30 degrees Celsius. So if you want to take a trip to Siberia, Excellium is the right choice. Of course, the so-called winter fuels are not offered throughout the year, but only when they are needed. This is usually the case from November to February or March - depending on how long it really stays cold. In the case of a very long winter, there would also be reserves.
Premium is worth it
Another question related to the benefits of premium fuels. Do you really need them or are they only needed for particularly sporty vehicles?
Basically, the fuel that you pour the love of sheet metal, not good enough. Why it is like that? Because the premium fuels help to keep the engine clean. It may happen, especially in the combustion of less high-quality fuels that build up residues in the engine and get stuck there. The result is a rough engine, power loss, increased consumption and much more than you can imagine. Especially at the transition between the cylinders and the cylinder head, these residues can get stuck. On the other hand, additives contained in the premium fuels cause deposits to dissipate and prevent deposits from forming. So you're doing his unit only good with high-quality fuels from TOTAL.
Everything synthetic, or what?
The last of your questions looked to the future and addressed the issue of synthetic fuels: how much will synthetic fuels make their mark on the market over the next five to ten years?
In the next five years, synthetic fuels are negligible, according to TOTAL experts Leder and Stöckl. Nevertheless, one should be sure that their share will rise more strongly in the long term. However, one must be aware that only components of the fuel could be synthetic in nature and fully synthetic would not be possible.
What Bjoern and Jens take from Berlin are above all two insights: On the one hand, there is more to gasoline and diesel than just crude oil, but far-reaching chemical processes. On the other hand, the recommendation that the premium fuel TOTAL Excellium is not a window dressing, but cares for the engine and cleans. And that is in doubt the much cheaper option than a defective drive, right?
