The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is largely manufactured and assembled by hand at a total of three locations. The chassis and body are manufactured and delivered in Graz by Magna Steyr. The aluminum space frame weighs a total of just 240 kg. At AMG in Affalterbach, the 6,3 liter strong V8 engine of the SLS is married to the body.
The engine delivers 420 kW (571 hp). The SLS AMB accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3,8 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 317 km/h. According to the AMG philosophy "One man, one engine", each individual employee is responsible for the vehicle they have assembled.
Sindelfingen, 15 km southwest of Stuttgart, is another automotive production facility for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing. There the final assembly of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG takes place on the Mercedes-Benz production lines in series production. Specially trained specialists produce the SLS there largely by hand.
At the end of the production process in Sindelfingen there are again extensive quality controls for the entire vehicle.
