VLN 1: Exciting season start of the TMG GT86 Cup

Magnificent spring weather and absolutely exciting motorsport - the TMG GT86 Cup started its second season with a remarkable race in the best external conditions. After 23 laps he drove TMG GT86 CS-V3 with the starting number 540 of the Leutheuser Racing & Events team and the drivers Martin Tschornia as well as Wolfgang and Alexander Kudrass as the winner. Teammates Jutta Beisiegel, Ralf Goral and Pawel Ledwon followed in second place, 3.11 minutes behind. The podium was completed by the Pit Lane team with drivers Olivier Muytjens, Bruno Francesco Barbaro, Gilles Vannelet and Brody. "It's always nice to start the season with a win," said a happy Alexander Kudrass. “All the more so because it didn't look like it at first. Martin Tschornia drove the start phase and had to go to the pits after two laps due to a brake flat. But then our race went perfectly and according to plan, so that we were able to implement our strategy with three full stints and were ultimately successful. "

The 60th ADAC Westfalenfahrt developed into an extremely varied race for the starters in the TMG GT86 Cup. Depending on the pit stop, the teams placed first alternated in the leadership. The TMG GT86 CS-V3 racing cars met all expectations for improved performance. The attractive Cup vehicles, which were further developed by TOYOTA Motorsport GmbH (TMG), drove lap times significantly faster than in the debut year 2013.

Biggest losers at the season opener were Sarah and Nigel Moore from Great Britain. The siblings from Team Vantage Motorsport surprised with their pole position on their first start at the Nürburgring. In the first hour of the race, they were almost 17 seconds ahead. Then they threw an accident and the subsequent repair stop far back. Shortly before the end, the British had to end the race prematurely with consequential damage.

Nico Ehlert, Principal Engineer Customer Motorsport: “Today we saw everything that makes motorsport so fascinating - a really exciting race with tough position battles. And all this in splendid Eifel weather. The start of the second year of the TMG GT86 Cup could not have been any better. The obviously even higher performance density in our one-make cup means that a lot can be expected this season. I'm already looking forward to our next race on April 12th. ”
