The excitement in the VLN does not just come from the races on the track. The VLN points system also plays a major role. The more participants a vehicle class has, the more points the winner gets. And so at the end of the year it is not the “big toys” from the SP9 (GT3) that play the main role, but the “real touring cars”. In the 2015 season, the decision for the VLN championship title will again be made in the last race.
VLN 2015 - It won't get any more exciting!
In the VLN season 2015, 6 titles will be launched. The production car trophy, the junior trophy, the speed trophy and the two cup ratings for the Opel Astra Cup and the TMG GT86 Cup. And the separately rated BMW M235i Cup class comes on top.
The overall result before the last VLN run looks like this:
The Belgian Van Campenhoudt (already has the production car trophy for sure!) Leads with 0.07 points in front of the Groneck brothers and the VLN winners from 2013. The two brothers start on a Renault Clio in the SP3 class. The Belgian Van Campenhoudt drives a BMW 325i in the V4 class.
The stronger class V4 made the difference. Because, the more participants, the more points there are for class victory. Both teams, both the Belgian on his BMW and the two brothers on the Clio, drove outstanding races this year. Class wins in series led to the narrow result. Now it will be really exciting at the last VLN run. Because not only the question of who wins in his class is important, but also the question of who and how many competitors in his class was able to defeat. The greater the number of competitors, the more points there are for the victory. That is the secret of the VLN.
GT86-Cup = winner has been determined!
Hoffmeister and Arne are in third place in the championship, both start on a Toyota GT3 and next to the GT86 Cup, which they have already won - they want to have a say in the Cup Toyota for overall victory. However, the question is how many vehicles will start in the GT86 Cup class on Saturday. The V86 and SP4 are usually better - significantly better - manned.
OPC Cup = open!
The Opel Astra OPC-Cup is also still open! The number of participants does not matter here, there are points for pole position and fastest race laps. At the top of the OPC Cup are Bohr and Hannonen on the Lubner Opel Astra with the start number 345. However, winning the championship is still not in the dry.
BMW M235i Cup = open!
The BMW M235i Racing Cup is also very tight. After their fourth win of the season, Michele Di Martino and Moritz Oberheim secured the VLN Junior Trophy in the past run and equalized in points with Ralf Schall and Mario Merten in the cup classification.
