VW Tiguan Allspace - XL version of the bestselling SUV

With 4,50 meters in length is the VW Tiguan already quite a handsome car. If you need more space, you can choose the long version "Allspace" in the future. The offers optional extra luggage space or space for two additional passengers. The market launch will take place in September at prices starting at around 30.000 Euro. The new model can already be ordered from May onwards, he will celebrate his European premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (9 until 19, March).

VW puts the Tiguan in a long version

The long Tiguan was first introduced at the Detroit fair earlier this year. No wonder, especially in the USA it should fill the gap between the Tiguan, which is perceived as tiny, and the five-meter Atlas and Touareg models. But there is also a market for mid-range SUVs here, as shown not least by competitors such as Skoda Kodiaq and Nissan X-Trail.

Instead of four-wheel drive, there are various traction programs

The 21,5 centimeter increments stretch the Tiguan to 4,70 meter length. The wheelbase, which grew by eleven centimeters, provides a better sense of space, especially on the back seat. In addition, the luggage compartment grows up to 265 liters compared to the standard model, maximally fit 1.920 liter in the Tiguan Allspace. The gained space can alternatively be used for the installation of a third row of seats. The five then becomes a seven-seater. For the appearance of the Tiguan, the growth in length means a visible change, at least from the height of the rear door handles. The third side window is much larger, ending with a perky kink upwards. The rear overhang has been stretched and therefore visually contributes to the new appearance.

In the best case, almost 2.000 liters fit behind the damper

The usual torment of choice prevails in the engines: Here, the well-filled VW shelf offers in addition to the 1,4 liter small entry petrol engine with 110 kW / 150 PS the well-known 2,0-liter engines to the 176 kW / 240 PS strong top diesel , All-wheel drive and dual-clutch transmissions need to be ordered and paid extra only for the base engines, otherwise they are standard.

The cockpit corresponds to the standard Tiguan

With the infotainment technique VW places the focus on good networking. If you order a navigation device, you will automatically get a variety of apps in the long Tiguan. The system is also compatible with smartphones of all operating systems. The technology is operated by touchscreen and for the first time also by gesture control. In addition, the usual assistants, including a traffic jam, who automatically follows the preceding car around bends, also lure in the supplement list. As with the standard Tiguan, there are two different front designs available for the XL version, a rather beefy one for city traffic and a sloped lower one with a better slope angle for off-road driving.
