Normally, the customer interest in a model that is about to change significantly decreases. Not so VW Tiguan: In December, new registrations of the old model increased once again by 17 percent. The new, orderable generation is expected to follow in the footsteps of its successful predecessor. Currently at least 30.025 Euro are due (150-PS-Diesel), the future entry-level version (125-PS-Benziner) is at 25.925 Euro, 350 Euro more than before.
Three engine-gearbox versions are available for sale: Currently the cheapest version is the 2,0-liter diesel (110 kW / 150 PS), which will consume 4,7 liters of fuel on 100 kilometers. With dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive costs the diesel Tiguan 3.900 Euro more (standard consumption: 5,3 liters). In addition, the compact SUV with 132 kW / 180 PS strong 2,0-liter gasoline engine with dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive is available (34.450 Euro). Here VW specifies a standard consumption of 7,3 liters. In the coming months, VW will continue to expand the engine range for the Tiguan. In the case of the diesel engines, a bandwidth between 85 kW / 115 PS and 177 kW / 240 PS is ultimately covered, with the gasoline engines ranging from 92 kW / 125 PS to 162 kW / 220 PS.
In almost every month of its eight-year construction period, the Tiguan ranked number one in the compact SUV segment. There is no reason for big changes in the new edition. The steeper radiator grille with wider chrome trim and a large brand logo make the compact SUV seem more confident than the comparatively petite predecessor. The Tiguan is now available in three variants: as a sporty R-Line, classic on-road model and as an off-road version specifically tailored for off-road use.
Technically, the 4,49 Meter long Tiguan (+ 6 cm to its predecessor) as the first SUV of the group on the Modular Transverse Box, which reduces the weight and space growth grows: The trunk now holds 615 to 1.655 liters, in the basic configuration 145 liters more than before , Additional flexibility is provided by the standard 18 centimeter longitudinally adjustable rear seat.
The cockpit is no longer leaning directly on the Gulf but on the Touran. Also in terms of assistance systems, the five-seater is among other things with city emergency brake function, pedestrian detection and lane departure warning (all standard) on the current status. Android and Apple smartphones can be integrated, online services offer, for example, traffic and parking information.
