VW and the DSG - * update * Now with a two-tier solution

Motor-talc helps, so the headline over an article on motor-talk.de. Why is?

Volkswagen says there are none DSG problems in Germany. The problems in China, which are among others the climatic conditions. Well, anyone who has paid attention to geography can understand what that means - because China extends beyond six(!) climates, What breaks down in China due to climatic conditions, can also lead to defects here.

Motor-Talk asks its users

With Motor-Talk, we now have an online platform in Germany that has a very diverse user base and covers almost all manufacturer brands. A survey of VW users on Motor-Talk has shown that there is also a problem with the DSG transmission in Germany:

Over 50% of Motor-Talk users with DSG transmissions speak of "Issues".

Now, the massive reporting and persistent behavior of the Motor-Talk editors has paid off. VW could not ignore the criticism in Germany's largest online forum for motorists and has sat down with the makers of MT at a table. The result was what the Motor-Talk makers are celebrating, a solution for MT users with DSG problems.

Volkswagen's two-tier society - a DSG recall in installments?

I quote from Motor-Talk:

The result: All MOTOR-TALKers who have problems with their DSG receive a special goodwill deal. The offer is valid for all VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda with standard engines and gearboxes as well as for all variants of the direct shift gearbox. Prerequisite is proof of maintenance according to the manufacturer's instructions (check book). In special cases of hardship, a subsequent goodwill is even possible. So far, no time limit is planned.

VW man Pietro Zollino assures all MOTOR-TALKers “a benevolent, accommodating individual examination”. The exact scope of the goodwill is calculated individually and depending on the mileage. MOTOR-TALK will try to accompany all cases.

The joy of this success now lies with the Volkswagen drivers who have a Motor-Talk account. Can VW really mean this? Is there really only goodwill at Volkswagen when the buyers of a product come together on a high-reach online platform? Or is VW starting a DSG recall here in Germany - in installments? First only scratch where it itched most violently?

I will confront Volkswagen with my contribution and I am curious what to answer there on the charge of two-tier society.

*** UPDATE ***

Volkswagen reacted very quickly to my request and emphasized that this accommodating rule naturally applies to all Volkswagen customers and that Motor-Talk only came up with a “handling solution”. MT collects the cases and forwards them “en block” to VW.

Volkswagen also emphasizes that so far there has only been one “reported” case, that is - only one customer who wants to take advantage of this “goodwill solution”. VW sees this as a confirmation of the very small number of "affected".

Well -

On the one hand, I am surprised at how quickly Volkswagen responded to my request and of course I am not surprised that this solution is offered to “all” customers. Here the error seems to lie in the communication of the entire process. I am amazed, however, that VW wants to point out at this early stage that only one case is known. It is the case that the cases collected by MT must first be reported to VW “en block”.

I think it remains exciting - and after all, on my first post, I also received emails from VW customers. Another individual case?

..keep going..
