The budget for the wallbox funding has been increased to 400 million euros. The federal government has now increased the original volume of 200 million euros by 100 million euros for the second time in order to meet the high demand. By February 25, 2021, more than 300.000 charging points had already been applied for, which corresponds to a funding volume of 270 million euros. An average of 2.500 applications are submitted every day, as reported by the National Organization for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NOW).
Since November, property owners and tenants have been able to apply for a grant of 900 euros for the purchase and installation of private charging stations. The permit is tied to certain conditions, including an intelligent wallbox with a charging capacity of 11 kW. The Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) is responsible for the applications.
