In the plug-in Hybrid SUV on vacation

The Outlander packs a lot as a plug-in hybrid!

This article is very personal now. Who likes to show the contents of his luggage compartment? Nobody. But to demonstrate what fits in the trunk of the Outlander PHEV, as before the return journey, all the luggage has been built behind the vehicle.

With a toddler and a young dog on vacation, the storage space of the PHEV will not be wasted!

Space thanks to clever PHEV concept

If you look at the technical data of the PHEV Outlander, you will notice that the “normal” Outlander actually offers a little more cargo volume. Minimum 550-591 liters compared to the 451-463 liters of the PHEV. The fact that you do not notice these restrictions is due to the clever basic concept of the Outlander Plug-In Hybrid. Thanks to a “PHEV” concept from the ground up, the space for the large batteries was consistently included in the planning. The restrictions are therefore very limited. Only a third row of seats is not possible in the PHEV.

Loading in combination mode

With the child seat in row two, it was clear that nothing could be folded down. Because the dog also needs a place and since the stroller had to be taken with you, the Outlander had to prove its full load capacity in the “normal” combination mode. A practical feature here is the option of adjusting the incline of the backseat of the back seat.

On the side where our dog got its place - of course with a dog blanket and that suitable dog harness for protection - We have raised the seat back as much as possible, so there was additional space behind it to accommodate the bulky stroller. On the other hand, there was enough space to stow two large, really large suitcases.

Space saver?

No. But just a real family SUV.

A child with a child seat, a puppy with a dog blanket - that was the back seat. The cool box with 12V connection was located behind the driver's seat, because the dog did not need a knee room. It is also practical to connect the box in the 12 volt socket below the center armrest.

The two large suitcases not only take up a lot of space - but they worked great on top of each other in the right half of the trunk - no, they were also quite heavy. However, the PHEV had no trouble with the holiday loading - at least one does not notice a lack of power thanks to the powerful electric motors.

The two backpacks, bathing suits and once the mobile office of the car blogger with photo equipment fitted just as well in the trunk as the thermo bag with the dog things. That the baby bag with the necessary travel utensils of the little ones then landed in front of the mom was not because of the trunk, but rather because you had to turn more frequently.

The stroller was the biggest challenge. Even when folded, such a thing takes up a lot of space. But the trunk of the Outlander PHEV has got it all “under control”.

And dad and mom? They had their comfortable seats in row one safe - as always. You can get cool drinks and snacks in the cup holders in the center console and in the door pockets!

So you can go on vacation ...
