5x Somewhat different SUV - weird types

Once the SUV was a real alternative to the standard compact. But as an expression of individual personality, the highly sought-after Hochbeiner are hardly more. There are, however, a few exceptions.

It was not so long ago that the SUV offered the opportunity to stand out from the car monotony. But today it takes more than high-build body, Machobeulen and robustness suggestive plastic jewelry. But there are still a few idiosyncratic varieties of the boom segment, with which one moves optically and technically a bit off the already existing paths.

In the SUV segment an exception: The Model X by Tesla

Like with Tesla's Model X, which does not look like an SUV at all. Yes, admittedly: The body builds high, the interior is spacious and optionally even seven-seater. And there is four-wheel drive. In sum, probably enough reasons for the e-car specialists to market this series as an SUV. But otherwise the Model X is an SUV like no other. This already starts with the gullwing doors opening up or the futuristic interior with huge display in the center console. Even more spectacular, however, is the drive - with Tesla just battery-electric. And that's not just emission-free, apart from the CO2 certificates that Fiat has acquired for Jeep, but also insanely fast. Tesla offers for the already very fast performance version still the Ludicrous mode, which drives the over five-meter-long and about 2,5 tons of heavy Trumm in 2,9 seconds from zero to Tempo 100 and to a maximum of 250 km / h. The range should be around 500 kilometers. However, the price is also high, because the performance variant costs with Ludicrous mode over 110.000 Euro. Even the base variant with standard range (375 km) is anything but a bargain with 83.000 Euro.

Typical Toyota? Because of: The C-HR is a car that optically polarized

Significantly cheaper is the optional semi-electric C-HR from Toyota. Unlike many bravely drawn models of the Japanese car maker Toyota has shown much courage in the almost 4,40 meter long five-door hatchback with aura. In any case, he stands out with his almost comic-like oversight. Especially children make big eyes when a C-HR pulls up. Presumably also because they expect that behind the wheel of this mobile a Pokemon must sit. But in addition to the outer skin and the technology of the C-HR is a little eccentric, at least if you ordered the version with hybrid drive. This offers with 90 kW / 122 PS a decent performance potential, however, complies with standard consumption, however, with less than four liters of gasoline on 100 kilometers. At first glance, this very emotional crossover offers a very rational for argument. The clear consumption advantage relativizes then also the elevated price, because for the hybrid version almost 26.000 euro are due already in the basic equipment.

A weird guy: Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

Similar to the C-HR and the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a visually inclined type, which is mainly due to its rear coupehaft sloping roofline. So he joins in the growing rounds of SUV coupes. The body shape is not necessarily an advantage, but it makes the car a little faster while standing. This is not the only special feature, because the version with 1,5 turbo gasoline engine is available in combination with a continuously variable CVT transmission, which is conducive to a relaxed driving style, but also allows stormy propulsion: With the 120 kW / 163 PS strong petrol engine you can Want to rush from zero to 10 in just over 100 seconds. In the basic version, the Eclipse with this engine is already available from 22.000 Euro. But it is worthwhile to invest 13.000 more euros in the top equipment, which leaves nothing to be desired. Here are just a few highlights: Leather seat covers, electric parking brake, rear view camera, 18 inch wheels, cruise control, bi-LED headlights, heated steering wheel and windscreen, keyless entry and start system, two-zone automatic climate control or a head-up display are standard on board. The customer can only order two metallic paints, a panoramic glass sunroof and a navigation system. A navigation system, however, does not need it, because the Eclipse Cross has a touchscreen on board, via which the navigation of smartphones via Apple Carplay or Adroid Auto can be used.

Compact or SUV? The Subaru XV is a hybrid, but with robust off-road skills

When it comes to seductive equipment packages, even the exotic Subaru XV is quite big. In addition, the Japanese goes their own way not only visually, but also technically in a number of ways. As would be on the one hand, his boxer engine, which builds flat, sounds pithy and now also halfway mannered drinking habits of the day. Combined, this is standard with all-wheel drive, which unlike most competitors permanently works and in conjunction with electronically lockable center differential, 22 centimeters of ground clearance and off-road driving program for high terrain expertise. The XV does not look like a Kraxel artist. And like the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, there is a CVT automatic for the Subaru, which should not meet everyone's taste, as it educates to a relaxed driving style, although as with the Eclipse Cross a hearty propulsion is possible. For around 23.000 Euro, the price list for the weaker 1.6er version starts, around 30.000 Euro requires Subaru for the stronger two-liter version in the upscale Exclusive.

A sports car as SUV: The over 300 km / h fast Lamborghini Urus

If you pay less attention to the price than to the sheer performance, you should look towards Italy. More specifically to Sant'Agata Bolognese. Lamborghini has recently been building the Urus there, which degrades pretty much every other SUV model to an extra. Like only a few representatives of its segment, the massive Italian - thanks to a 478 kW / 650 hp V8 biturbo - can impress with sporty driving performance. 3,6 seconds for the sprint, 305 km / h top speed are actually values of a racy sports car. An SUV can hardly be more emotional. However, unlike the Lamborghini hip flasks, the Urus is also spacious and family-friendly. However, the price is not very family-friendly: the base already costs 204.000 euros.
