MG is expanding its electric portfolio with a compact model. The MG4 Electric is scheduled to debut later this year.

The Chinese carmaker MG Motors wants to launch the electric compact model MG4 Electric at the end of the year. The hatchback model is based on a new platform from the parent company SAIC and is 4,29 meters long. Two battery variants with a capacity of 51 or 64 kWh are available for the five-seater, which enable a range of up to 350 or 450 kilometers according to WLTP. In connection with the small battery, a 125 kW/170 hp electric motor is on board, the more powerful battery is coupled with a 150 kW/205 strong electric motor. The sprint to country road speed takes less than 8 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 160 km/h. MG does not name prices, but the compact model should start at around 30.000 euros and thus be cheaper than an ID.3.
