After a more or less significant decline in new registrations, there was a plus for the first time in September. E-mobility also has its share in this.
For the first time since the Corona lockdown, the German car market has grown again. In September the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) registered 265.227 new registrations, 8,4 percent more than in the same month last year.
The strong plus goes mainly to the account of private customers. Registrations in this market segment rose by 18,3 percent (market share: 36 percent), while commercial registrations increased by 3,5 percent (market share 64 percent). The overall annual balance is still negative, with 2,04 million new registrations after nine months, 25,5 percent below the previous year's figure.
Electrified vehicles were again in particular demand in September. The number of new electric cars rose by 260 percent to 21.188 units, which corresponds to a market share of 8 percent. The plug-in hybrids increased by 464 percent to 20.127 units and achieved a market share of 7,6 percent. The SUVs were also in great demand, and after an increase of 9,7 percent they achieved a market share of 21 percent. The off-road vehicles increased by 5,4 percent to a market share of 10 percent.
