Alfa Romeo Giulia: Alfisti celebrate Christmas in April

Alfa Romeo finally shows other Giulia variants and names the start of the order.

Anyone with small children knows this: Shortly before New Year's Eve, the first questions come up: "When is Christmas again?" Patience and anticipation are virtues that people have to learn very early on.

Now let's imagine that such an impatient toddler (or of course a toddler) has become an Alfa Romeo fan and potential customer in the course of development. Such a "Christmas is only once a year" - conditioning was suddenly for the ton.

Unfortunately, Alfa Romeo does not plan a station wagon.

For years, plans were announced, announced and collected - Alfa Romeo was to be resurrected. Sometime. Somehow. Despite all of Volkswagen's takeover efforts. And despite chronically empty cash registers at the parent company Fiat.

In 2015 the time had finally come, even seasoned men among the oh so hard-working car journalists held their breath, rubbed their eyes and were excited: Alfa was indeed showing a new car, the Giulia. First in June in Milan, then at the IAA in Frankfurt. But always only the 510 hp top version Quadrofoglio.

At the moment, the Giulias for people are finally available at the Geneva Motor Show. So we know that there will be two trim levels on this side of the top model: Giulia and Giulia Super.

The customer from the very beginning has the choice between a 2.0 liter petrol engine with 147 kW / 200 hp and a 2.2 liter diesel with 110 kW / 150 hp or 132 kW / 180 hp. Later in the year, a 280 hp version of the petrol engine and a diesel expansion stage with 210 hp will be launched.

Alfa Romeo supplies the petrol engine as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is optionally also available for the hand-operated diesel.

And another number: Believe it or not - the Italians are indeed announcing the start of ordering for Giulia: the order books are to be opened from April 15th. Yes, this year! Alfa Romeo does not reveal the prices yet, but that would also be an information overkill for the patient customers.
