France deletes compulsory chademo

The Chademo standard has probably finally lost the duel with the CCS connector. Now France is also making the latter mandatory.

The fast charging standard Chademo threatens to disappear into oblivion in Europe. France has now lifted the obligation to equip DC charging stations with a corresponding connection by decree. As the "Electrive.net" portal reports, only the CCS connector will be required in future.

The Chademo interface developed in Japan is becoming less important due to the new French regulation. The fast-charging standard is mainly used by early e-cars such as the Nissan Leaf, the Peugeot Ion or the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid. But the relatively new Lexus UX also uses the technology. The majority of e-car manufacturers - especially the European ones - rely instead on the CCS standard. In Germany, too, this is the only one that is required for fast charging stations.
