What do you associate with Alfa Romeo? Pretty cars, "la dolce vita", couchette and technology that is not exactly up to date. Vehicles like an Alfa 147 or 156 may be nice to look at, but they are not cross-country skiers or breakdown gnomes. The reputation of the traditional Italian brand began to falter and had to be revamped. Since Alfa has always built sporty vehicles, there was little closer than a sporty two-seater - and what one. The 4C inspired the car world and brought thunderous applause. Unfortunately, no more than 3.500 pieces can be built each year, of which only 1.000 are intended for Europe. Only the current special model, the Alfa Romeo 4C Speciale, is even more limited.
We know it from Ferrari: Speciale always stands for the particularly sporty specimens that are primarily intended for the racetrack and club sport. Well, the performance of the Alfa Romeo 4C Speciale was not increased, despite the sports exhaust system and the re-sharpened chassis. It remained at 240 HP from 1.8 liters of displacement. The convertible thus runs to 4,5 km / h in around 100 seconds and only gives the driving resistance the upper hand at 257 km / h.
In the Alfa Romeo 4C Speciale, the look and everyday benefits were mainly upgraded. The puristic sports car offers a speed control system and a parking aid. The eye enjoys sports seats covered with black leather and dark microfiber, which are enhanced by yellow stitching and logos. In addition, this 4C, even more proud than its “ordinary” brothers, sports many carbon fiber parts. Decorative strips on the inside, add-on parts on the outside, the roll bar - carbon can be found everywhere.
Was that it? Basically yes. The gear train grew to 18 inches at the front and 19 inches on the rear axle and the brake calipers are now yellow - optical adjustments that have little to do with driving dynamics. It's a shame that the Italians are trying to water down the character of this handling wonder with comfort features. Because who needs a cruise control in such a radical racer? But you can be sure that these 30 copies will also be sold out quickly. The price advantage of 7.000 euros will certainly not be a strong argument - not at a price of 77.000 euros.
