Bentley Flying Spur - dynamic heavy ship

Visually, the new Bentley Flying Spur quotes its predecessor, which is over 60 years old, but technically it is brimming with high-tech.

SP-X / Crewe / UK. VW's luxury brand Bentley has launched the third generation of the Flying Spur. According to the manufacturer, it is a fundamentally changed new edition that has little in common with the predecessor than the name.

At the beginning of 2020, Bentley launched the new edition of the Flying Spur

The four-door luxury body has grown to a length of 5,32 meters. In addition to the usual luxury, it also offers an exceptional level of performance. The Brit also visually lives up to the dynamic claim compared to its predecessor with a comparatively muscular outer skin. In some details, the new Flying Spur quotes the legendary S1 Continental from the 1950s. Aluminum is used extensively for body construction, which is why the luxury liner with a weight of 21 tons, enthroned on at least 2,4-inch wheels, is modest. This nevertheless lush mass is able to move the six-liter W12 engine behind a huge radiator grille at a super-sporty level. The 467 kW / 625 hp and 900 Newton meter unit allows a sprint from a standing start to 100 km / h in 3,8 seconds and a top speed of 333 km / h. The power is variably distributed to all four wheels via an eight-stage dual clutch transmission from ZF. There is also an all-wheel steering system that reduces the turning circle at low speeds and provides more agility at high speeds.

Compared to the predecessor, the four-door has grown by three centimeters to 5,32 meters in length

Other highlights of the new Flying Spur include the chrome-framed, round matrix LED headlights, 48-volt on-board electronics and the largest car brake discs in the world with a diameter of 42 centimeters. Other subtleties of the noble body are an adaptive air suspension, a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen for rear passengers. This control display can be used to control curtains, ambient lighting, air conditioning or the massage function of the rear seats, among other things. There is also a head-up display, a split screen for the infotainment system and various driver assistants such as the night vision system. In addition to the basic audio system with ten loudspeakers, Bentley also offers more powerful systems from Bang & Olufsen or Naim for a surcharge. As it should be, the passenger compartment of the Flying Spur is also equipped with a lot of manual work and fine materials. The four-seater, which can be ordered from autumn and will be available at the beginning of 2020, with a W12 engine should cost just over 200.000 euros.
