Cadillac CT5 - Long Live the Limo

Like many other manufacturers, Cadillac is increasingly turning into an SUV brand. But the Americans are still swearing allegiance to the limousine for the time being.

The American carmaker Cadillac is presenting the new sedan CT19 at the New York Auto Show (April 29-5). The four-door, which will probably start in 2020, will inherit the previous ATS and CTS series, which are currently only available in Germany in particularly powerful V versions.

While new Cadillac releases were characterized by quite avant-garde designs just a few years ago, the new CT5 comes across more like a well-behaved average guy. Long, vertical LED daytime running lights and a richly beaded hood give the front character.

The new Cadillac aims to remain true to the brand's core values with superior comfort inside. This should be ensured, among other things, by acoustic optimization and a noise cancellation system, each of which ensures that background noise is minimized. In addition, the CT5 should offer a range of assistance systems that allow a higher level of partially automated driving on motorways. It also uses a new infotainment system called CUE, centered around a huge tablet-style touchscreen in the center of the dashboard.

The new Cadillac model is based on GM's Alpha architecture, which can be combined with either rear or all-wheel drive. There will be a choice of two turbocharged petrol engines with two or three liter displacements. Standard transmission is a ten-speed automatic. Cadillac will announce further details for the trade fair premiere.
