Cars from home

Many cars are produced in Germany. And also sold directly in the country. Only one neighbor has a higher self-construction rate.

German car buyers like to buy German cars. The share of new cars from domestic production in the overall market is 35 percent, the second highest in Europe, according to data from the consulting company Inovev. The value is only higher in Skoda's home country, the Czech Republic, at 39 percent.

Second place among the countries with the highest proportion of self-produced cars in new car registrations is occupied by Spain with 22 percent, and third by France with 21 percent. The shares are also in double digits in Italy with 16 and in England with 10 percent. Across Europe, the rate of cars built on the continent is 71 percent, which was equivalent to 9,74 million vehicles last year.
