Donkervoort brings super agile D8 GTO-RS - Dutch Dynamite

Even if the car manufacturer Donkervoort can look back on almost 40 years of company history, only a few will have ever seen a vehicle of the Dutch brand live. If a marginal phenomenon, it does Sportcars-Manufaktur always talk about themselves with particularly fast models. Latest prank: The D8 GTO-RS announced for late summer.

Donkervoort fans may remember that over ten years ago a D8 GTO-RS set lap records on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring. In the past two years, the Dutch have been working on the completely newly developed successor, the first pictures of which have now been published.

These photos show an aerodynamically clearly refined body. In addition, the revised design offers a more aggressive and bulky look than the simple variants of the D8 GTO family. Among other things, the RS owes its wide construction to a track extension, which is supposed to ensure more grip on the front axle. A new brake system should also guarantee better deceleration values.

Donkervoort has also improved in terms of drive technology. As with other D8 GTO versions, the 2,5-liter inline five-cylinder from the Audi RS3 is used. The Dutch have not yet given specific performance figures, but these are likely to be impressive. Already the normal D8 GTO has almost 400 HP with less than 700 kg. The sprint time is 2,8 seconds, the top speed is 270 km / h. The upcoming RS will probably add a little extra.

Thanks in part to an automatic double-declutching function when changing gears and a revised traction control system, sporty driving pleasure should be enjoyed even more intensively in the future. Despite the puristic Kraftmeierei: According to the manufacturer, the D8 GTO RS also meets the latest Euro 6 emissions standard.

Only 8 of the RS - according to Donkervoort the lightest and fastest D40 GTO so far - are to be produced. The racing car with street approval is said to cost around 180.000 euros. This is expensive, but the manufacturer will probably not have any sales problems: 21 customers have already sold in the ongoing pre-sale. (Mario Hommen / SP-X)
