Triple view of the future

For fun, travel and family - Audi represents three E-car-Studies in prospect. They should show the full potential of the new technology architecture.

With three Concept vehicles gives Audi an outlook on its future e-mobile fleet in the coming months. The start will be at Monterey Car Week in August Sports car study Skysphere, on the IAA follows the Touring sedan Grandsphere and in 2022 the debut of the Urbansphere is due, a family crossover with a large interior. The part of the name "Sphere" should also emphasize the important role of the interior; this is particularly spacious due to the e-car architecture. In addition, it already reflects the transition to highly automated driving.

Automatically saved design

The most concrete vision is the Grandsphere, which points to the luxury-class model announced by Audi for 2025. The Ingolstadt-based company does not yet show any meaningful photos, the first preview images show an elongated hatchback sedan with short overhangs and a short bonnet, the passenger compartment stretches in a wide arc to the short stern. In the interior photos, the generous space in row one is striking, while that in the rear seems to be comparatively tight. Instead of a classic chauffeur limousine, the model appears as a self-drive car, which, however, acts autonomously if necessary, while the person relaxes in a living room-like interior.

Technically, the three models should be based on the premium electric car architecture PPE developed jointly with Porsche. The Porsche SUV Macan is expected to be the first model with this technology in 2023. Audi could follow suit shortly afterwards with an electric A6 offshoot, before the upper-class model follows in the middle of the decade. The smaller Audi Stromer should continue to use the MEB platform of the VW Group, on which the compact SUV Q4 is also available.
